So you’re engaged—yay! Once the buzz settles, one of the first (and biggest) decisions is choosing where to say “I do.” But how do you even begin the venue hunt? Let’s break it down so it’s less overwhelming and more exciting.

💭 Start With the Vibe
Close your eyes and imagine your day. Are you standing under trees with sunlight filtering through leaves? Or sipping champagne in a modern winery? Knowing the feel of your day helps you narrow your venue options—think rustic, luxe, beachy, vintage, industrial-chic, or something intimate and cozy.
📍 Consider the Location
Ask yourself:
Do we want a local venue or a mini destination getaway?
Do most of our guests live nearby, or will they need accommodation?
Will weather be a factor (hello, NZ seasons)?
Use this to decide whether you’re after a city spot, a vineyard, a beachside escape, or a hidden gem in the countryside.
👯 Guest List & Capacity
Before you fall in love with that secluded hilltop chapel, be sure it fits your people. Here’s a quick guide:
Small (under 50 guests): Think elopements, pop-up weddings, and intimate venues.
Medium (50–100 guests): The sweet spot for many NZ weddings.
Large (100+): Look for venues with bigger reception spaces and logistical support.
🕐 Timing and Packages
Does the venue offer:
Full-day weddings?
Half-day or evening packages?
Pop-up or elopement-style ceremonies?
And are there off-season or weekday specials you could take advantage of?
💸 Price vs. Value
Budget is big, but remember: value > cost. Some places offer all-inclusive options that save you time and stress (and even money in the long run). Ask about what’s included—tables, chairs, staffing, coordination, etc.—and what’s not.
🧭 Bonus Tip: Ask for Recommendations

Such a well-written post and honestly one of the most underrated topics in entrepreneurship — trust isn't something you can manufacture overnight, it's built through consistent ethical behavior over time. The point about prioritizing integrity over short-term benefits is so important because so many early-stage entrepreneurs make the mistake of cutting corners for quick wins, not realizing that one unethical decision can permanently damage a reputation that took years to build. What really resonated is the idea of trusting your product and trusting yourself — because confidence is contagious, and if you genuinely believe in what you're building and stay true to your original vision, that energy naturally attracts the right partners and customers. For young entrepreneurs especially, understanding that…
The post gives really helpful tips on starting the venue hunt, especially about knowing your budget, guest list, and style before visiting places, which can make the process less overwhelming. It reminded me of helping a friend shortlist venues where we realized visiting in person gives a much better feel than photos alone. I once used NEBOSH Exam Help while managing study pressure, which helped me stay organized. It shows that planning early makes big decisions feel much easier.
